What is The Metroplex Select Basketball League?

The Metroplex Select Youth Basketball League is a select organization which services Dallas Forth Worth and its surrounding communities. Both boys and girls between the ages 7-12 can participate in the league. We emphasize good sportsmanship, the development of individual skills and the importance of teamwork.

When do signups begin?

Registration begins in October.

How do I register my son/daughter to play?

How much does it cost to register my child?

It cost $125.00 to play basketball. Fees can be broken up into 2 payments if needed.

5.

My 7 year old is experienced enough to play with 8-10 year olds can he/she play up with them?

Yes. We do allow kids to move up in age divisions, just not down.

How are the teams formed?

Teams are compiled via an open evaluation and then picked by coaches.

How are the teams organized?

Teams are organized into Boys and Girls. The Divisions are: ages 7-8, ages 9-10 and ages 11-12)

When does the season begin and end?

Practices begin in mid November. Games begin early December. Our season usually ends in the middle of February.

When are the games played?

Games are played on Saturdays between 10am to 5 PM and usually, a team plays only one game a weekend. On occasion, game scheduling may require a team to play on a different day than Saturday.

Where are the games played?

Home games will be played at a gym in Colleyville and away games will be played at in the DFW area.

When and where do the teams practice?

Practices are usually they are1 ½ hours long, conducted twice a week and held at a local gym in the area.

What equipment will my child need?

The League will provide a jersey and shorts for each player. Players should wear non-marring basketball or running shoes. If your child wears dental braces, we recommend that they wear a mouth guard during the game for their protection. Players with glasses should wear an eyeglass strap to prevent them from falling or being knocked off.

How high are the baskets for the younger grades?

The rim is at 10 feet for ages 8-15. The rim is set at 8ft for ages 4-7.

Can we have makeup games on our bye week if the involved coaches are in agreement?

Once the schedule has been created and finalized, Metroplex Select does not create additional games because the gym time will not be available. However, if you and the opposing coach want to have a scrimmage game with your teams at an offsite location, you may do so. No referee will be provided and this game will not count in the standings.

Are there playoffs?

Yes. There are playoffs at the end of the season.

How are ties in the standings resolved to determine playoffs seeding?

All ties are resolved by using a coin toss.

Our team cannot make a game. Is there any way we can reschedule this game?

Unfortunately, since our gym time is very limited and our gym schedule is booked solid, we are unable to reschedule any games. This game will be recorded as a forfeit.

18.

My child would like to be on a team with his/her best friend or a coach we know. Can you accommodate these types of requests?

Because coaches, parents and the league want fair and balanced teams, we cannot guarantee requests to satisfy carpooling, neighbor, friendship, coaching or other similar requests.
